About David A. Darsow
In case you have not already figured it out, I am the one responsible for this site (and several others). Despite being constantly busy with such things as: being a dad, getting my law degree, running an e-commerce business, and trying to find time to ride my motorcycle or paddle my kayak down the river, I simply can't help but build new Web sites. Technology in general has always fascinated me and I find computers and the Internet particularly intriguing.
This newest round of re-designing of my Web sites took place over the summer of 2008. Since I will be graduating from law school next year and will need to get a real job to help pay off the tremendous student loan debt I have accrued over the past 7 years, I decided to take the summer off again. Of course by off I mean not working at a regular job and instead keeping busy with Web design and other hobbies.
I have added a few new sites this summer and if any of them are as successful as MontanaBodyArt.com has been, I may eventually reach my goal of making a living strickly through Web design and e-commerce.
As a grand finale to the summer of 2008, Jon Dunbar (a friend from law school) and I rolled out of my driveway on our bikes at 8:00 AM on July 19 and rode about 200 miles east along HWY 200 to Great Falls, MT where we met up with another law school friend Mike Talia.

Mike joined us on a several hour long ride through the scenic Belt Mountains in the Gallatin National Forest. We then returned to Mike's place for an afternoon barbeque before heading back out for Missoula. Jon and I arrived back at my place at about 7:30 PM and grilled some hamburgers to go along with our ice cold Heinekins. The total miles for the days ride was about 500; we were both quite tired but it was fun and we are planning to do it again next year.

Ubuntu
After quite a few years of being fed up with poor excuse for an operating system called Windows (and in fact Microsoft in general), I have finally discovered an excellent alternative - the Ubuntu distribution of Linux.
If you are like most people, you are probably wondering right about now what exactly an Ubuntu is. Well, Ubuntu is a Zulu word which loosely translates into english as "I am what I am because of whom we all are." It is also the name of a very nice user friendly release of the Linux operating system. Unlike some of the previous versions of Linux, you do not need to be a computer nerd to install and run this one. In fact, it is actually much easier to use than either Windows or OS-X.
I highly recommend Ubunto and will personally never again install Windows on any of my own machines. The numerous advantages of Ubuntu include:
- It is FREE
- It boots up in a matter of seconds (really!)
- installs in much less disk space...leaving more room for other files.
- Fully supported through both online forums and commercial support options if needed.
- It runs MUCH faster than Windows
- You hard drive and files do not get fragmented - not ever.
- No viruses, nope...none
- It uses considerably less battery power on a laptop (substantially more runtime)
- It is very easy to customize to your own liking
- Uses considerably less power than other operating systems and is, as such, Green and eco-friendly!
- Did I mention it is FREE?
Although programs designed for Windows will not run under the Linux operating system, there are literally thousands of free open source apps which do. There is an alternative (often superior) for just about any program. If you find something you simply can not live without you can always either dual boot so Windows is available when needed or you can run Wine, Virtual Box, or other Windows emulators.
I use my computer for way more things than the average user and have not discovered a single task that I can not accomplish with Linux. In fact, the Linux alternative, more often than not, turns out to be easier. To learn more about my favorite Linux distribution, just click on the ubuntu logo above!
